Truth got a disqualification win over Cena, and he wasn't totally punked out in the match (he got hit with the belt when Cena was trying to powder) which was the absolute most that he was going to get out of this angle. Honesty just glad they didn't bring him back just to Matt Hardy him.

Chelsea's closest comparison (and I think she's even said this) is definitely Miz, she's the type that will have a job for years based on character work alone & will be considered underrated unless she wins a world title at which point she'll immediately be awen as overrated (although I still think Miz is underrated in-ring, he can't carry anyone to a Meltzer classic but he doesn't have to be carried to one either, he very much holds up his end).

Chelsea has been an excellent in-ring worker in the past, but this run has been based almost entirely on character work. I don’t know if she still has that extra gear to go to anymore though — Lucha Underground was a long time ago.

Yeah I don't think she can get there anymore. Would love to be proven wrong if she can, and if she can, she might want to realize it's time to bring that out again and maybe reverse course on how the office sees her, at least enough to not be stuck with dead-ender feuds and struggling flunkies.

I guess the question is whether or not someone in her position is able to do that: if she’s got producers in her ear telling her to do middling comedy work because that’s what the role calls for, it might not be good for her continued employment to call an audible in the ring for the purposes of WORKRATE~!

Her dumpster match with Michin is what convinced me that she's Diva-ing it up on purpose. Hell, this year's Money in the Bank match definitely suffered for her absence.

She is on record as being a fan of the Diva Era, and that style is certainly less risky — even the garbage matches when you consider that most of the “plunder” is gimmicked to some degree.

And the thing is that wrestling like that in this era makes her stand out, not unlike what Tape said about LA Knight.

You’re absolutely correct and that is why I think this whole situation can be laid directly at the feet of WWE management, who have made it crystal clear that they don’t want anyone getting over outside of the very narrow parameters set by the company.
