I haven’t been keeping up with NXT because my free time has gotten crunched down and that was always gonna be the first thing to fall off the radar, because frankly nobody much cares about NXT even in an “online” sense. But I figure I do have a little free time here, so let’s see what’s happening. Plus I really want to see Vaquer vs Grace as I’m a huge fan of both.
So let’s go!
Live from Tampa! Jordynne Grace arrives wearing the tackiest looking top I have ever seen on a wrestler and that covers a lot of ground!
Kelani Jordan vs Sol Ruca (c)
WWE NXT Women’s North American Championship
Ruca out first because this company does not respect tradition. Wow I did not know that Ruca is also the SPEED champion!
I immediately don’t like what they’re doing with the pointless gymnastics. Listen, I don’t like to use “gymnastics” as a negative in the Cornette way, and I don’t mean it exactly that way, but there is nothing else to call what they’re doing. They are a gymnast and an acrobat doing gymnastics and acrobatics.
BUT! That is their background and they are both still in the learning stages, they just happen to be on TV instead of a National Guard Armory. Their base is working from what got them hired. That is the WWE PC way, and it’s easy to understand. And it’s also, at their best, obviously spectacular stuff. To me, it’s empty, but I am not the average viewer. I could spend an hour laying out why, from my viewpoint, neither of these two are anywhere near as good a wrestler as Mark Starr, but the reality is nobody wanted to watch Mark Starr then and they sure don’t want to watch that now.
